A profile of a central Washington agriculturally driven community that blows off steam every year in an amazing way: The Lind Combine Demolition Derby. Garage sized wheat harvesters are painted and retooled to do battle against one another in the ring. This annual event plays as the backdrop to the story of old friends Josh and Matt and their struggle to maintain their family farms into the next generation.

The score is lap & pedal steel based with chamber orchestra and percussion. It features an all steel rendition of Debussy’s Claire De Lune (Thank you Paul Brainard on pedal steel!).   I was able to act as foley for the derbies with a set of timpani, a pair of bass drums, and a 40” gong – a total blast.
